Banner photo by /. Ok maybe not today, a week ago I found out you can 'bug' your simcard (Globe or Smart only) for unlimited Internet. It's a very easy process, anyone can do it, just Google it. When your sim is 'bugged', you get to use your mobile data without having to pay anymore. Works with Phones, sim-based broadband wifi/portable wifi.
It also works with LTE networks. Just pay P50 to activate LTE then boom, you have unlimited access to the Internet for at least 3 months or even a year without having to pay anymore. What surprised me is the amount of people doing this. Just search for 'wimax LTE' in Facebook and look at the groups.
This is obviously illegal and Globe/Smart isn't doing anything about it. I'm obviously against this. It's very unfair for the people who is paying for their overpriced Internet in the Philippines. How I knew all this? I was selling my motherboard online.
Got a text from someone asking if he can swap it to a 'bugged' router. I got curious about it. He first begged me not to tell anyone about this then he told me how it all works, linked me to his secret FB hacking groups and stuff. At the end of day, I accepted the offer just to see if it really works and it did.
(I don't intend on using it for Internet, just wanted to try it out) He gave me a Huawei 22B router with a bugged sim inside. All I had to do was to text LTE 50 to 2200 (1 day LTE browsing for P50) and it worked, unlimited LTE. Imagine that, just pay P50 for unlimited LTE browsing. He also told me most computer shops use this for their unlimited Internet. I already sold it, I definitely don't support this even though the Internet in the Philippines is overpriced. I choose to do what is right. I really hope this gets stopped soon.
They're the reason why Globe imposed a bandwith cap. Back then, wala pa yung mga VPN tricks nila and other shizz para ma-bypass ang network ng Globe. But nung sumikat yun sa Symbianize forums (yuck), inabuso nila yun to the max.
Filthy braggarts. I'm surprised not many knew this, even here in reddit. The LTE sim hack was just a recent development and that there was already a new fix imposed to overcome whatever Glove/Smart did. Before this, there was this WiMax modem hacking for free unlimited Internets going on and still very legit and used widely to date. It's so easy to find that popular forum that shows all the goodies as it's just a few Google keywords away. I know all of this because I am using these free Internet hax all the time.
A little tidbit about that LTE SIM bug, you have to have an uninterrupted power source for your LTE modem to enjoy the unlimited Internetz, meaning you shan't turn it off ever once you made it work.
